The International Day of the Danube is celebrated on 29th June, accordingly several cities and several countries join this event with various cultural and sport programs. In Hungary we joined the international event last year and this year as well with a series of programs called ‘Danube Days’ within the frames of the Interreg DANUrB –Danube Urban Brand – project that is coordinated by Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban Planning and Design.
The cities of Esztergom and Štúrovo (Párkány) are waiting for the participants with a variety of programs for the second time in this joint venture on 29-30 June but in 2018 Ráckeve city also joint to the initiation and offer entertainment to interested visitors from 29 June to 1 July.
One of the important objectives of the DANUrB program is to strengthen the cultural identity of the Danube regions by creating a comprehensive cultural network and to map out unused hidden cultural and social resources and built heritage. In accordance with the project, the aim of the series of events ‘Danube Days’ is to draw attention to local cultural values and heritage by linking existing programs and fostering further co-operation.
